Hi Neighbors,
Our board recently met, and the majority of our time was spent planning an exciting and informative upcoming Spring Meeting. We are looking forward to catching up with everyone!
Here are the details for the meeting:
When: Wednesday, April 29th, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM
Where: Greenbriar Inn https://www.greenbriarinn.com/
Guest Speaker: Ben Pfohl from the Colorado State Forest Service will be joining us to talk all about mountain pine beetles, including prevention, identification, and remediation strategies for our trees.
Agenda Highlights: Alongside our guest speaker, we will be sharing an update from a great conversation we had with the Boulder County 'traffic calming' department.
Refreshments: We will be providing water, iced tea, and lemonade.
If you’d like to enjoy Greenbriar's fine food or an adult beverage, please arrive a bit early to purchase items at the Greenbriar pub bar (we kindly ask that everyone tries to avoid rushing their staff right at 6:20!).
While the rest of the meeting notes will be covered on the 29th, we did discuss a few time-sensitive items that we wanted to get on everyone's radar right away:
Bear Season is Back The bears are waking up (if they haven't already!), so we need to tighten up any relaxed habits we may have picked up over the winter. Trash and bird feeders are the top attractions for problem bears. Please remember to only put your trash out on the morning of collection, and ensure all bird feeders are brought inside. Also, don't forget to clean any food wrappers or crumbs out of your cars! Dry conditions are predicted to bring more bears to the Front Range this year, so let's all do our part to keep wildlife wild. Story Story
Stage 1 Fire Ban Along with the dry conditions, please be aware that we are currently under a Stage 1 Fire Ban. Sheriff announcement
Watering Restrictions & Well Usage Watering restrictions are taking effect all over Colorado. As a friendly reminder, please respect that almost all the wells in Crestview are permitted for household use only, which means no outdoor use or watering. (If your lot is over 35 acres, you may have a different well permit). Well Permitting CO
Wildfire Partners Chip & Shred Program Great news! We have officially submitted our community application for the Wildfire Partners Chip and Shred program again this year. The application window just opened today, so we are getting ahead of the game. We will share more details with everyone as soon as we hear back and get more details nailed down. Chipping Program
Thank you for reading! While this update is a little more focused on meeting logistics than our usual recaps, we are working to have the Spring Meeting packed with great information. If you can't make it to the Greenbriar, don't worry—we will distribute the slide deck to the neighborhood afterward.
Warm regards,
CERG
