Crestview Estates Community Roll-Off Dumpster Day: A Big Win for Wildfire Mitigation!

Crestview Estates residents showed up ready to make a difference at the Community Roll-Off Dumpster Day. The goal of the event was simple but important: reduce wildfire risk by removing burnable materials stored in yards, along fences, and near structures.

By the time the event kicked off at 9:00 a.m., no less than three homeowners were already lined up with loaded vehicles, eager to clear out burnable clutter from around their homes! Over the course of the day, 29 homeowners participated and collectively filled about 2.5 large dumpsters with material that might otherwise have remained a serious fire hazard. As each dumpster filled up, Western Disposal delivered a replacement, keeping the event moving smoothly. That level of responsiveness played a big role in the day’s success.

The event was also made possible by community volunteers who donated their time to check participants in, provide on-site registration, and ensure that no prohibited items were disposed of. Many thanks to Howard, Brenton, Kim, & Becky for picking up shifts! Their efforts kept everything organized, safe, and efficient throughout the day.

The dumpsters were provided by Western Disposal, with costs covered by Wildfire Partners, making participation easy and accessible for residents. That support, combined with strong turnout from the neighborhood, resulted in a highly successful event.

Beyond the volume of debris removed, the day highlighted what Crestview Estates does best—neighbors working together to protect each other and the community as a whole. The enthusiasm and participation were so strong that plans are already underway to make this a yearly event.

A big thank-you goes out to everyone who participated and volunteered to help make Crestview Estates a safer place to live and to Wildfire Partners for sponsoring the event. We’re already looking forward to doing it again next year. Let's aim for 4 dumpsters of burnable clutter!
